Disks

All jobs that you submit should include the following:

• Actual size laser prints(tiled, if necessary) with the most recent revisions
• Laser prints of separations with color labels (these may be reduced)
• Special instructions, like varnishes or spot colors, clearly marked on the laser prints
• Disks labeled with your name and the job title
• At the very least, a list of the files we are to output; preferably, a list of all files on the disks
• Ink colors that will be used for printing
  

Disks should include:

• Final document(s) for output
• All fonts (screen and printer files) required for output, including those fonts used in EPS graphics
• All graphics, including original FreeHand files, and links embedded within EPS files (TIFFs placed in a FreeHand file, for instance)

Consider using a program like Markzware Flightcheck or Flightcheck Collect to analyze your files and collect linked images and fonts. If you use PageMaker 6.5 for Mac or Windows, you can use the Save for Service Provider (Utilities menu:Plug-ins) to collect fonts and linked images. (Note: Be sure to create a new folder to contain the items before using this command.) Freehand 8 has a similar feature, as does QuarkXPress; however, QuarkXPress does not collect fonts.

Disks should NOT include:

• The only existing copy of the file(s).
• Your archive files that are not stored elsewhere.
• Files that are not needed for this or related printing projects. Move other files into a separate folder, or to another disk.
• Your entire font library (please—send only the fonts for the job)

Never send the only copy of your files! If the disk becomes lost or damaged, you will have to recreate the missing files.

• CD-R (CD-Recordable)
• Iomega Zip 100 MB; 100 MB & 250 MB for Windows only
• Iomega Jaz 2 GB, 1 GB
• SyQuest 5.25" (44, 88, 200 MB)
• SyQuest 3.5" (105, 270 MB; EZ135)
• DAT w/Retrospect (8 GB) *
